[smg id=667]

The Last Battle has started. The seals on the Dark One's prison are crumbling. The Pattern itself is unravelling, and the armies of the Shadow have begun to boil out of the Blight. Perrin Aybara is hunted by spectres from his past. To prevail, he must find a way to master the wolf within him or lose himself to it forever. Meanwhile, Matrim Cauthon prepares for the most difficult challenge of his life. The Tower of Ghenjei awaits, and its secrets will reveal the fate of a friend long lost. The end draws near. It's time to roll the dice.

It's a Darrell Sweet cover, so I'm not going to delve into the inconsistencies... well, other than the fact that Mat doesn't have his hat and has, apparently, gone Rambo.  And that Thom and Noal are both white-headed, so one of them has obviously gotten into the "Just For Men" haircolor.

On the up side, finally they're going after Moiraine!! Yay!!

Perrin's about to embrace his inner wolf!  Yay!!

The voices may not be real, but they have some pretty good ideas...

At least the cover isn't final, but I doubt it will get a whole lot better. The Gathering Storm's cover, while more skillful in it's final outing was just as shoddy as the draft cover. With the scale being off and just a crappy scene to portray.
I could have been a contender.

Yeah, the cover for A Gathering Storm that I posted way back was also "not final" but it changed only very slightly.

I'm kinda liking the huge black stripe through the middle!  Maybe they should keep it...and put something like "imagine good art here." ...or something similar!

 :)

Thom's not going in, by the way...it's going to be the kid instead.  Mark my words!   :P

I must admit, the black box is the most aesthetically please part of the cover right now.
I could have been a contender.

Here's the complete blurb from the dust jacket:

The Last Battle has started. The seals on the Dark One’s prison are crumbling. The Pattern itself is unraveling, and the armies of the Shadow have begun to boil out of the Blight.

The sun has begun to set upon the Third Age.

Perrin Aybara is now hunted by specters from his past: Whitecloaks, a slayer of wolves, and the responsibilities of leadership. All the while, an unseen foe is slowly pulling a noose tight around his neck. To prevail, he must seek answers in Tel’aran’rhiod and find a way–at long last–to master the wolf within him or lose himself to it forever.

Meanwhile, Matrim Cauthon prepares for the most difficult challenge of his life. The creatures beyond the stone gateways–the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn–have confused him, taunted him, and left him hanged, his memory stuffed with bits and pieces of other men’s lives. He had hoped that his last confrontation with them would be the end of it, but the Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills. The time is coming when he will again have to dance with the Snakes and the Foxes, playing a game that cannot be won. The Tower of Ghenjei awaits, and its secrets will reveal the fate of a friend long lost.

This penultimate novel of Robert Jordan’s #1 New York Times bestselling series–the second of three based on materials he left behind when he died in 2007–brings dramatic and compelling developments to many threads in the Pattern. The end draws near.

Dovie’andi se tovya sagain. It’s time to toss the dice.

*deep breath*

"The sun has begun to set upon the Third Age."

If that doesn't send a chill down your spine, nothing will...

Well darn, just found out today I have terminal cancer and may not, probably won't get to finish the series. However will wait and hope I can get through the next book, if not good luck to all you avid readers out there of this series....it just has to turn out right... although my ailment is terminal and I am sad not to see the end...it must have been far harder for those involved with RJ  (including the man himself) not to have been involved with the end...good luck to all...especially Brandon...well done on The gathering  Storms.

evacaronz, what a difficult challenge you are facing...  You will be in my thoughts and prayers.   I will hope that you confound your doctors' expectations and live long enough to realize whatever your heart desires.

Best of everything to you...

Oops! I thought that's when ToM was originally to come out... Apparently I misread something. Sorry.
Lieutenant- “We’re surrounded!”
General- “Excellent!  Now we can attack in any direction!”
