I find it ironic...

That the recorded voice tells me continuously that my call is important to them. Clearly it's not. If it were important I wouldn't have been on hold for 15 minutes. Does anyone actually buy the whole 'Your call is important to us, please hold'?

No.  But, without that most bare and insincere suggestion of civility, civilization as we know it would probably collapse.

They make the effort (albeit mechanically) to say it.  We make the effort to act like we believe it.

And the world turns...  *nods*



*also hates the recorded voice and its empty promises*  :D

I'd have to say that your call *is* important to the person who runs that department of the company you're calling.  

But is your call important to the minimum wage techie that is actually going to be talking to you...no, not so much! *laughs*
