The True Power?
« on: July 09, 2010, 08:40:03 PM »
I don't really understand the True Power... (im a young WoT reader :D so some stuff are beyond my understanding)
i know that Moridin is supposedly the only user of the True Power cuz hes Nae'blis
and when he uses it the black flecks go across his eyes.
the rest of channelers either channel Saidin or Saidar which are the One Power (if i am correct).
however, sometimes, it says that so-and-so opened herself to the True Power and so on... i dont really get this...
anyone help?

The True Power, as I know it, is the power of the Dark One. He grants it's use to those who serves him, or perhaps those who he wants to serve him. Lanfear helped discover it and help tap it. She didn't serve the Dark One before that moment, but how long after it did she? How many of the other survivors of the experiment turned to the shadow? Don't know, but from the WoT guide we do know the main researcher with her (the Guide hints Beidomon might have been her aid, or a partner in the discovery) died after it was tapped and the Sharom was destroyed.
I could have been a contender.

oh thats some good background knowledge :P
but i was asking that sometimes normal channelers (aes sedai most of the times)
grab the True Power....
like i forget what books or what pages
but sometimes it says that the True power felt just beyong their grasp, or something like that so ya.
it was confusing me alot.

Editing error? It might have also been the True Source you are thinking over.
I could have been a contender.

hmm i doubt that they would have made the same error
a couple of times or more...
maybe there is something to this!

p.s.
is the true power part of the one power as Saidin and Saidar are?
or is it a totally different form of power?

This is a great question, actually!  I've noticed the same thing and just kinda shrugged it off as me just not understanding it fully...and it'll eventually make sense.  Of course, that never really works out for me!  :-)

To bad theres like 12 huge books to look through in order to research this.

The Trolloc:D...I nominate you to do that research!   ;D

All in favor say aye?   :P

i will do my best :D
but i recall that most of the times were
when a aes sedai or Rand couldnt reach the source
so ill have to look for those parts.
probably in books 3-6 is more likely
