Min (Elmindreda) Farshaw
« on: April 01, 2010, 05:03:11 AM »
Hey guys

I don't know if it's just me but I find Min clingy, needy and annoying. She is always by Rand and constantly seeks his attention even though she tells herself she is an independent women. This aggravates me continually. I would really like to know if this is just my imagination.

I don't see Min that way.  Of the three, I think she's the one who loves Rand unconditionally and, therefore, acts accordingly.  Elayne has her duties to Andor, Aviendha has hers to the Aiel.  They love Rand, but they put those duties before him.  Which they should - I'm not saying that's a bad thing.

But Min's primary concern, pretty much from when we first meet her, is Rand.  She's the one who comes to the acceptance of "sister wives" before either Elayne or Avi - even with Aviendha being Aiel.  She pretty much orchestrates the Bonding - it wouldn't have happened without her slipping away from him in the palace and going to find the other two.  Once she joins him in Caemlyn (in LOC), she uses her gift as an oracle exclusively to help him.  I believe she'll be the one to puzzle out, through her study of Herid Fel's books, just how he's supposed to defeat the DO.

You also have to take into consideration Rand's perception of Min.  He never doubts her, never mistrusts her.  His faith in her is absolute.  He depends on her to lighten his mood when it gets too dark, to listen to him and tell him what she honestly thinks of his ideas, even to watch his back when he can't.  He certainly doesn't consider her to be clingy, needy or annoying.  Considering the path he's on, she is exactly what he needs, imho... :)

The voices may not be real, but they have some pretty good ideas...

I'd have to agree with Jianna. Out of all the relationships in the books Min's and Rand's seem the most healthy.
I could have been a contender.

Idk, I always thought Faile/Perrin and Mat had the "most healthy" relationships...

I don't really hate Faile...but she's got an attitude problem when it comes to trusting that other people might know what's best.  (which is a reccurring theme with WOT women)

What Faile needs is a stern talking to from her father!

What I thought was the most stupid story line of the entire series was when she forced Perrin into madness...until he broke and laid down the law on her.  Then she was like...ooooh, and ahhhh...and she loved him even more.  What???  That's just B.S.

Note to women reading that story...don't try that with your man in real life.  Nine times out of Ten you'll find yourself man-less...with a deep bruise the size of a foot on your butt!

I'm just sayin.

Yeah, Faile is a horrible person. Who the hell would want to put up with her ****? I believe she says and Saldean women are like that, then I feel sorry for Saldean men. Oyve.
I could have been a contender.

True...but, even *that* was stupid becuase she did it in secret.  She doesn't trust Perrin to know what's best for him and his life.  So, there she is...sneaking around with her followers...and being all "I know this is the best thing for Perrin" and "he said not to do this, but he's just a man afterall".

dumb.  But, maybe Perrin will find out and spank her again.  That would be worth reading!
