Great Christmas gift idea!
« on: December 01, 2009, 08:00:29 AM »
Ok,
So...my Dad got me into reading sci-fi back in the day.  (and I don't even want to *think* about how long ago that actually was...so sad!)  Anyway, I know he likes to read and has even listened to a few audiobooks that I've bought for him.

So, I found an MP3 player (2GB Sandisk Clip) on Amazon.com for only $20.00!!  I'm going to load a couple of audiobooks onto it and give it as a gift!  Then, for future events, like birthdays...father's day...next Christmas...I'll just get him some Giftcertificate to Audible.com so he can download some more books!

Man, am I smart or what!?!

 ;)

...don't answer that!  hahaha

Jeez. Progress. When I bought my mp3 player (2GB Coby which apart from some weird issues from batteries has been a solid little thing) it cost $70, and that was on sale.

And when I bought my very first 1GB flash drive, to transfer stuff from my venerable old Compaq desktop to my then-new laptop (this was August of '06), it cost $75. and that was on sale. Just last week my gf bought a new 4GB drive for the grand sum of $11.

My friend Todd told me a tale of his first internal hard drive, with a staggeringly-enormous 50 MB capacity, for $500.

This completely pointless rumination has been brought to you by law school and lack of coffee.

I remember scratching all my extra funds together to get an 8MB RAM memory chip for my 66mhz Pentium computer.  Total cost?  $116.00...on freaking sale!

That boosted my total RAM to 16MB!  Sweet!

...I remember that I dropped all that money just so I could play the game Stonekeep!

 ;D

I spent $100 for 32 MBs of EDO RAM for 166mhz Pentium MMX processor for 48MBs of RAM. My computer came with 16 MBs of RAM and a 2GB harddrive. I used to think there was no way I could ever fill that. lol
I could have been a contender.
If there is a 50/50 chance you'll get right there is a 90% chance you get it wrong.
