A very sad day
« on: August 17, 2007, 05:34:45 AM »
This morning I said goodbye to one of my dearest friends.  I am wordlessly grateful for our time together and I will miss him terribly.

Lakota:  1992-2007
Rest in Peace, my friend.

I am so very sorry for your loss.
The voices may not be real, but they have some pretty good ideas...

I am sorry Geoff, that is really sad. :( I think my father's dog Rowdy will be following Lakota soon, he's had him since I was 15.
I could have been a contender.

He looks like quite the friend.

So sorry to hear about your loss, I really do hope you were able to say your goodbyes properly, it's amazing how much of a difference that can make in a few months.

I still miss my girl, Tara. But I just try to remember the good times we had.

I've still got my bud Fudge, Chocolate Lab, about 11-12.

Do you have any other pets that have to deal with the loss? I know that's a hard thing to watch.

Three others, so definitely still got some fuzzy lovin' in the house.

Thanks for the support everyone.  It's greatly appreciated.

I had to get my neighbour to help me carry my 15 y/o 35kg+ Shepherd X up the back stairs in the rain last night because he couldn't walk. I'm not feeling confident about his prospects for recovery so I might be in your boat soon.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

How are they coping? I have a Chocolate Lab. that's about 12 now, and I know he's really calmed and slowed down since we put my Shepherd down, it's hard to deal with even more so when your other pets notice it.

They're actually fine.  He hasn't been gone long enough for it to sink into the walnut that our Pomeranian is using for a brain, though I expect that will change.  They were best buds, so he'll notice eventually.

The cats...well, cats never give a **** about anything really, do they?  They worked very hard to ignore him while he was alive, and now they're working hard to act like he was never here.  Pheh.

Yeah, that is what seemed to happen to Rowdy after Brandy had to be put down. Until then he never seemed old, but ever since then he has gone down hill pretty dramatically. He is pretty old, so it could just be coincidence, but I can't help but feel it is in part because his sister is gone.

Our Shepherd X got a whole new lease on life when we got a female yellow lab puppy. It was the best thing that ever happened to him.

That sucks, I'm sorry. Losing pets is always hard. I've never had a dog, but I've lost pets of other sorts. I've had my parrot for 11 years and I don't know what I'd do without him now.
