A couple of political comments
« on: March 19, 2009, 06:48:19 PM »
I must say it was funny to see today to see so many Republicans in Washington break from the ideological belief that executive pay is sacrosanct, of course everyday Joes like us have to take a pay cut since our extravagant middle class lifestyle (if we're lucky) means we're a detriment to the companies survival while massive executive pay is a-okay,  and vote to tax the AIG bonuses at 90%. Of course the bill is completely unconstitutional and a complete waste of time and money. But it was fun to see so many spines break from public opinion.

Also, if Eric Cantor is a rising star in the Republican party, then the Republicans are in trouble. That guy is a moron.
I could have been a contender.

Wanna know what I found funny.  I found it funny watching so many Democrats stumbling over themselves trying to re-direct their latest batch of moral outrage when somebody reminded them that the AIG bonuses they were all so up in arms about were the same bonuses that were guaranteed by the "stimulus plan" each and every one of them just signed....over massive Republican opposition, if I remember correctly.

Maybe Prince Obama and his Legions of the Faithful should read what they enact into law before they sign it.

Yeah, the moral outrage is old. However the provision for curtailing the bonus in the stimulus bill was killed in a bipartisan manner. There is plenty of hypocrisy to go around. However, the hypocrisy is today mostly, imo, on the right. It's funny because when Democrats were even talking about curtailing executive wages that Republicans on the Hill became holier than thou about not wanting to dictate how business run, but had no problems with it when it came to the auto-industry or today when it was politically expedient.

Also, the whole "Prince Obama" thing and "He's not the messiah" is kind of old. Especially from a party that practically worship at the alter of all things Ronald Reagan, and the party for a time that tried to deify George W. Bush.
I could have been a contender.
