The joys and dissapointmens of owning a PS3
« on: May 30, 2008, 11:18:50 AM »
When i got my Playstation 3 i just assumed that it had a 100% backwards compatibility and will play every single one of my PS2 games.....well boy was I wrong. ><Well>> sports games are okay but in real life i could care less about sports unless they decide to bring back the sports from the days when the romans where around. Any ways i love my PS3 because of its blue ray capabilities and plus the fact that the PS3 gets updated every now and then. Like i said in another post about blue ray i knew from the moment i heard about the new blue ray technology that it was going to win out over HD. Blue ray is just better in every way. It has more potential than HD. Now all we need is to make hard drives that hold over a terabyte of information. >> i like to have anime on my computer and that takes up a huge ammount of space since i download like the entire series of an anime and i like just about any anime there is out there. Back to PS3 i love that you can store music and pics and every things else bout the PS3 thought not to say that as a huge game fan i wont buy a 360 and maybe eventually a Wii as well. I have a original xbox as well as a game cube. I like all of them and the games that go on those systems. I like that they have that 1 year warranty on the PS3 in case it breaks or malfunctions. I only had to send it in once to get repaired and so far its been working fine. ^_^

I owned every console last gen outside of the Dreamcast. I own the 360 and PS3 this gen, with no intention of buying the Wii. After the Gamecube I am done with Nintendo, their games no longer appeal to me, I am not really sure they ever really did. My disappointment with the PS3 is there are no decent games I want to play outside of Resistance: Fall of Man.

GTA IV is on the 360, and I am no fan of GTA series. A friend convinced me to buy GTA IV for my PS3, and for a game that is getting rave reviews it is exactly the same as prior GTA games only prettier. I have to wonder how long Rockstar is going to be able to milk GTA III, right now it is standing at 3 (Vice City, San Andreas and GTA IV.)

MGS4, I liked MGS2, silly story aside, but it was hard as hell to get into. Trying to play MGS3 and MGS Twin Snakes are just as hard to get into and I still haven't gotten far into them. The controls suck and the stealth is laughable for a game that claims stealth action. The saving grace for the games, imo, is the awesome presentation. I'll probably pick up MGS4 when I can get it cheap if I can ever finish the other MGS games.

Of the games out now I'd like to get Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, rent Ratchet and Clank and Heavenly Sword. In the future Resistance 2 is a must buy. That's pretty much it. The up coming Final Fantasy XIII next year holds no hype for me since Final Fantasy has sucked since Final Fantasy VIII. Killzone 2, don't make me laugh, only Sony can create hype for a sequel to a game that sucked.

Blu Ray movies are nice, and I rent them off of Netflix, but not worth the $30 tag many titles sport. Plus there aren't a lot of good movies currently released on Blu Ray. HD-DVD had a much better catalog when it died, plus it had the same picture quality and it had better software and less DRM. Honestly, HD-DVD was the better format imo. Blu Ray just had more storage space, which for HD Movies HD-DVD had more then enough of.

I'm such a hater. lol

For my 360 I've want to get Lost Odyssey, the upcoming games Fable 2, Halo Wars, and Gears of War 2. I feel like I am missing something. Any multi-platform game I prefer on my 360 since they normally run better on it and the controller destroys the dual suck. I also can't help but enjoy unlocking achievements.
I could have been a contender.

For the final fantasy series the only ones that i can tell that suck are X-2. I want to play a final fantasy game not a dress up game where you pick outfits to wear. The latest one they made is one of my favorites, though it will never replace my favorite, Final Fantasy 7. My favorite character is and always will be Cloud. As for games for PS3 well i like Sonic, Bladefurry. DMC 4 >> GTA is a boring game. >> dont know what this msg you are talking about is. There are quite a few other games that i like and I do own is Heavenly Sword and I beat that game. I have at least 5 games so far. >> oh i get it Metal Gear Solid. I get bored playing that game series. The one game series i will always love is of course my favorite horror action game series Resident Evil. I dont care what the movies did to butcher the story line. I like the games. I will get a 360 for Fable two since i still play the first one and some how i always end up being the hero in that game. Of course i would have to get Gears of War and the second one when it comes out. >> unlocking achievements means nothing to me since i dont care much for multiplayer games except if its on a PC. These are just my views and oppinions and ones that are not going to be changed any time soon. I can be no more and no less who i am lol. Any ways I will always play video games as long as there are people to make them.

You get Achievements outside of multiplayer. lol I am mainly a single player gamer myself. I don't often go online. I don't think I have gotten any multi-player achievements.
I could have been a contender.

*ponders* All i care about is the story of the game lol. If it has a great story backed up by really good game play then im hooked on it. ^_^ if a game has no story well i get extremely bored really quick.

I'm the same. I prefer games with a good story, but even bad stories can be accepted if the game is fun. Let's face it, most stories in games are pretty weak, even in the RPGs. I wouldn't play a game just for achievements. Some people do just that though, which imo is just insane.

X-2's only saving grace was completing the storyline and getting the special ending.

I really enjoy my ps3, but I like my 360 too, I'm not much a hater, but I'm excited for Fable 2, GoW2, Ninja Gaiden 2, etc. etc.

PS3? I want to rent Haze, it got some rough reviews, but MGS4 is my next purchase really. I'll comment more later, just got off work and tired as all hell.

Oh, and yes, Sony dropped the ball on the newer PS3's, the best ones to find are the  early released 60 gb's, with hardware emulation, letting you play any game any time.

Oh, and you can update PS3 HDD's, it's just a pain in the ass.

I'd trade straight up my 80 gig for a 60 gig PS3. :)

The 360 hasn't changed much since it has launched. They added the Elite version which as the 120 gig HDD, and now every 360 has HDMI. I find it funny that people will bitch about the 360 adding features and then are mum when the PS3 cuts them. Right now there isn't a PS3 on the market that is backwards compatible or has all the ports the 80 and 60 gig PS3s had.

True, but they had to find ways to compete, people weren't liking the 6-700 prices.

I see 60gb's quite a lot still. I've noticed only people who pay a lot of attention find the 60 gig worth looking for. I've seen them on eBay, and even a couple refurbished models at Gamestop.
