I wasn't much of a fan in his later years, but then again I didn't follow him too much to get past the NRA-bias.

Great actor though, but I suppose all things come to an end.

My favorite Charlton Heston films...  The President's Lady, The Greatest Show on Earth, El Cid, The Agony and the Ecstasy and, of course, Ben Hur.

He was also the archetypal Cardinal Richelieu.  Tim Curry had more fun in the role, but Heston's was more believable.
