I knew it!

The wait between books has been getting longer. Right now it is understandable since RJ has been sick. But look at the dates, the first 6 books, the best books in the series by far, all came out within the first 4 years. A Crown of Swords took an extra 6 months was the beginning of the decline, with the book taking the longest to write, Path of Daggers, probably being the worst. RJ, go back to writing the books quickly they were better then!

The Shadow Rising       15 September 1992
The Fires of Heaven      15 October 1993

A Crown of Swords       15 May 1996

I could have been a contender.

If he wrote quickly we might miss all the tedious information about what Rand had considered to eat for breakfast after he vanquished the dark one. :-P

Yeah, that would be horrible if that happened!

Oh gods I can imagine it.

"Rand sighed, stared at the side bored, turned to his three women, they where arguing over whose turn it was to be with him.

He portalled out to a little cafe in Caemlyn, had himself some poached eggs on toast. Vanquished some dark friends, sipped his coffee, watched the sunrise....

I love the first 6-7 books.

I think to a point, it may go to show how much of the story is known to RJ. I know that when I do my best writing (not that would every presume to compare myself to RJ) it is when it flows from me quickly. I ahve to back and posish and what not of course.

Having said this, One must also keep in mind that so many charaters and the tangled Webs they all have woven it is compeltly understandable why it takes so long to write a book that advances the overall plot.

I personally have enjoyed the last three books the most of all of them, so I'm not sure that i'd say the first six are the best.

Four, Five, Seven and Eight were the worst in my eyes, six was by far the most tedious, with only the ending being absolutely marvelous and saving it from being the worst of the lot, for me.
