WoT to be finished by Brandon Sanderson

Well, one thing we do know as a consequence of going through that portal is that Lanfear became Cyndane and is now in a mind trap. She no longer has the same body, one that is pretty short compared to her former tall one. Every case where we've seen forsaken brought back is when they have died.

However, if Matt is destined to save Moraine from the ter'angreal with Thom I do find it unlikely that Moraine died. Unless Matt discovers some ability to raise the dead she may have been saved from Lanfear by the creaturees behind the ter'angreal and thus that could be the reason why Lanfear now has a different body. With the ter'angreal destroyed she'd have no way back, except from the Tower of Genji. Which Matt is supposed to figure out.
I could have been a contender.

Aaron has read all his books, I believe Jacy has read a little bit and I have read his Mistborn books. He's pretty good and he's a fan of the series. He should be able to do the series justice. Hes also said he will reveal who killed Asmodean, so who can't love him for that? lol

Yeah, after reading JUST Elantris, I knew Sanderson was the best hope we had next to R.J. He is an incredibly talented fantasy author. And I don't say that lightly.

As for the Lanfear/Moiraine part... I don't know. We only saw ONE of the doors, correct? The ones in TFoH? (Wow, I need to reread, the city in the waste isn't even coming to mind...) Well, if I recall, that was only one species, and the other portal holds a different. My thought process when I heard Moiraine may make a comeback was that that species is against the DO, and that while they can't allow Moiraine to leave, maybe Mat can make some type of bargain because of his allegiance and high standing with Rand to get her back, or perhaps it requires a type of sacrifice from a ta'veren (I think I even spelt that wrong... man I need to go back and read these.)

That's more along the lines of my thoughts on it, I think Lanfear just got on the wrong side of those creatures (Who can blame them?), and Moiraine is simply trapped.
I believe the world is burning to the ground.

Of course. It was a great book, definitely a return to form by RJ. I've only read it once, and memory of what happened in it is pretty bad. I remember a lot from the earlier books because I've read them so many times. As I've gotten older and the series longer I haven't had the time to re-read such a huge series to keep my knowledge of it up to snuff. I'll probably start up a re-read sometime next year to refresh my series memory.
I could have been a contender.

Speaking of re-reads...

I'm on The Shadow Rising, about half way through, and I've gotta say...this is a *very* important book as far as forshadowing and developing character traits...and...uncovering prophecy!  I must have had my head up my ass when I read this one the first time...or maybe I just didn't realize how much the rest of the series would lean on the events in this book...cause I'm like *oooooh, aaaaaah, woah!* every other chapter!  hahaha   :)

I'm really glad i'm re-reading!  It's like visiting an old friend...you know, that old friend that you've forgotten was so cool!

Anyway, I agree...the last book was really good.

About who killed Asmodean. Isn't it Moridin? When he was killed the text said "and then death took him", or something like that. Moridin is the old word for death. Right?

I think it was Graendal.

As for Moridin... it was obviously someone Asmodean knew, and since the others who have encountered Moridin haven't readily recognized him at first blush, that would sort of let him out, wouldn't it?

Why do you suspect it is Graendal, Jacy?

I think Graendal is probably one of the most dangerous of the Forsaken - mainly because it is easy to dismiss her as vain and superficial.

Remember, she underwent a radical personality change when she swore to follow the DO - from plain jane ascetic to flamboyant, flashy pleasure seeker.  She craves power (all of her "pets" are people who held positions of power).  She wants to be Nae'blis because of the power it would give her.  She has pulled strings, manipulated others of the Forsaken like chess pieces on a board - hiding her ambitions in plain sight, if you will, by pretending to be exactly what they think she is.

I can't remember the timing exactly but... she had her own private meeting w/ the DO where she was led to believe that she could, very well, be named Nae'blis.  I think she must have done something that the DO would want to reward her for - like kill the one who was helping to hone Rand's skills.  Asmodean was, by act if not by honest intent, betraying the DO's cause.

I think that Graendal killed Asmodean, went to Shayol Ghul and was rewarded with a "promise".  The next Forsaken - Demandred, I think - to go to Shayol Ghul was told that Asmodean was dead, and with details enough to indicate that the killer had told of the deed him/herself.

And another thing... RJ incorporated so much of mythology and the like into his story.  "Graendal" is very close to "Grendal".  No, Grendal wasn't female - though, the argument could be made that his mother was, at least, as dangerous as Grendal was.  Grendal was the thing most feared by all men.  It's a play on words/names that I can see RJ utilizing...

Kind of thin, maybe, but that's my theory.
